Convervation and Historic Buildings

The first contact that many people have with Building Conservation is likely to be when they are faced with work to a Listed Building. Suddenly a wall of 'red tape' seems to descend which constrains and restricts any alteration, demolition, adaptation or adjustment.

S J Treloar & Associates are able to advise on all issues relating to matters of conservation, and are experianced dealing with Grade I and Ancient Scheduled Monuments as well as the usual Grade II and II* listed buildings.  Our services are provided throughout the UK, including Berkshire Oxfordshire, Midlands, Manchester, Bristol, Hull.

There comes a time when a building may appear to have become obsolete. Whilst demolition may seem to be the obvious solution very often a Conservation Approach can prove to be the most economic option. S J Treloar & Associates can offer advice on conservation methods and solutions as well as choice of sympathetic materials giving buildings a new lease of life.

S J Treloar & Associates understand the importance of 'Preserving our Built Heritage' and are able to offer practical means of achieving both an acceptable approach to the conservation of historical fabric and the enhancement of a building's function. Our extensive experience means that we are fully familiar with all the legislation surrounding matters of conservation and procedures required to obtain consent. We have the experience to negotiate with the relevant officers in English Heritage in order to obtain the optimum end result for our clients whilst still respecting the highest ideals of conservation.

We can advise on the requirements of PPG15 and PPG16 dealing with Building Conservation and Archaeological Analysis and can provide useful guidance on grant sources for Listed Buildings and Structures within Conservation Areas.
